When you think about the financial ways of the world you might not consider India’s Stock Market as being a huge impact. In fact, you might not even be aware that India has a market, but they do indeed.

India’s Stock Market, while considerably smaller than the stock market on Wall Street in the United States of America, is a vital part of the local and the world economy. Here it is known as the SENSEX.

What is amazing is that India’s Stock Market went through some terrible times for about three years in a row before it began to turn around. I four years time it went from 5000 point to nearly 22000 which was an absolutely outrageous increase. The projections were for it to increase approximately 35 per cent over that period of time, which would have landed the numbers at the 16,500 mark. Instead they ended up at 22000, which is an enviable feat to be sure.

India’s Stock Market is no stranger to the problems of the world and is affected by the financial crisis currently spanning the globe. The stock market here has fallen back into the mid teens as a direct result of the problems facing the entire world. While the downturn has not been as rapid or severe as it is in places like the United States, the impact has been felt. Though the economists agree that it will bounce back fairly well and they advise people to stay invested for the long haul to maximize the profits.

There are approximately 6000 companies represented on the SENSEX, which is an acronym for Sensitive Index. The stock market here actually began around 1830 and it wasn’t until the mid 1970s that it began to become truly organized and it was 1986 before it actually became known as the SENSEX.

India’s Stock Market recently had a 15 per cent gain in value in one day as a direct result of the 15th Indian general election. This caused some suspension in trading on the SENSEX and seems to have instilled a new confidence in the economic indicators in this country.

There is little chance that India’s Stock Market is going to fold or have any sort of terminal melt down anytime in the near future. Overall the financial outlook for the county and the businesses inside this country as well as the entire neighboring region are very good.

In 2006 India’s Stock Market did a total volume of approximately 980 billion dollars which is a great boost to the country as a whole and has made the financial outlook there much more positive than it had been in prior years and things continue to improve and look better nearly every day.
